Corrections Programs and Community Development

The Corrections Programs and Community Development unit manages the Department's Grants Program to National Voluntary Organizations, which provides funding to organizations that support and promote the public safety mandate and priorities of the Department.

The unit also coordinates the National Joint Committee of Senior Criminal Justice Officials and annual joint policy forums hosted by the National Associations Active in Criminal Justice, and is responsible for significant new and ongoing programs. These include implementation of the National Sex Offender Registry as governed by the Sex Offender Information Registration Act, the implementation and administration of the National Flagging System Initiative, the Policy Development Contributions Program, and the National Office for Victims.
