Choosing Effective Crime Prevention Practices
Once there is a good understanding of who a crime prevention program is trying to reach, why and what resources are available, it is time to explore the options for what activities to undertake. Many effective crime prevention practices exist but not all are effective in every community context. Selecting activities that are a good fit for the community and have the most evidence of success is the best way to go.
A recent research report a Guide for Selecting an Effective Crime Prevention Program identifies a four step model to help people in communities select a crime prevention program. Although not exhaustive, it presents some key considerations and questions designed to help people make the most informed decisions possible when selecting a program for implementation in their community.
