After you apply
Communities at Risk: Security Infrastructure Program

After submitting your application

After submitting online, the Designated Organizational Contact identified in section 2.2 of your application form will receive a follow up email (from "ps.donotreply-external-snap-externe-nepasrepondre.sp@ps-sp.gc.ca") confirming receipt of your submission. Please contact us if you do not receive one after 24 hours.

Upon confirmation of the receipt of your application, your project will enter the Assessment Phase (see program phases). This phase could approximately four to five (4 to 5) months, depending on the volume received. During this phase, your project will be assessed by Public Safety Canada. All applicants will be contacted once the Assessment Phase is concluded, regardless of the decision.

Ensure to regularly check your junk/spam email folder as we may attempt to contact you after the submission of your application. Failure to provide requested documentation or clarifications by the set deadlines may result in an incomplete application.

Applications submitted through the SHMIS stream will be assessed upon receipt by Public Safety Canada. If approved, the development of a project prioritized via the SHMIS stream is to be completed and a funding agreement signed within six (6) months.

All contributions are subject to the availability of appropriated funds and any modifications or additional requirements that may be imposed by the Policy on Transfer Payments.

If selected for funding

If selected for funding, your project will move from the Assessment Phase to the Development Phase (see program phases).

The amount of funding your organization will receive for your project is not confirmed until your project is fully developed and passes the Approval Phase, where you will sign a contribution agreement with Public Safety Canada.

Any work or purchases conducted prior to the signature of a funding agreement with Public Safety Canada are not reimbursable or eligible under the program.

You may only start your project on the effective start date indicated on your signed agreement. Once signed, you will need to ensure you complete all approved project activities, within budget, by the end date of the agreement. Successful applicants will also be required to submit a Final Performance Report and other financial deliverables to Public Safety Canada within three (3) months after the completion of their project.

Please be advised that all funded projects may be subject to an audit within six (6) years after completion.

Misuse of funds and/or failure to comply with agreement requirements outlined in the contribution agreement may result in severe penalties, including the suspension or termination of the agreement, the repayment of funds, disqualification from future funding opportunities, legal action by the Government of Canada, and/or other remedies available.

Please contact your assigned Program Advisor or the program mailbox (sip-pfpis@ps-sp.gc.ca) should you have any questions.
