Purpose : This project is based on the Youth Inclusion Program model, which focuses on program interventions for youth identified within high risk neighbourhoods as most at risk of offending. The Youth Inclusion Program is one of eleven National Crime Prevention Centre-identified crime prevention programs, and this project is one of several implementing the Youth Inclusion Program in British Columbia and in other provinces. Youth Inclusion Programs aim to address local issues such as community safety and youth crime and seek to offer a range of activities to attract young people into positive lifestyles. The aim is to reduce youth crime and anti-social behaviour in neighbourhoods by creating a safe place where youth can go to learn new skills, take part in pro-social activities with others, and get help with their education and other determined needs. Positive role models help to change participants’ attitudes to education and crime.
