Purpose : This model program will target children 6 to 12 who are at high-risk of criminal involvement and have come into contact or are at risk of coming into contact with the police. The SNAP® model program is a Canadian-based, internationally recognized program. SNAP® employs a cognitive behavioural approach to help at-risk children decrease anger, aggression, antisocial behaviour and impulsive behaviour. It targets boys (through the SNAP Under 12 Outreach Project) and girls (through the SNAP Girls Connection) aged 6 - 12 who have come into contact or are at risk of coming into contact with the police and display early signs of antisocial or aggressive behaviour. Additionally, a SNAP® Parenting component of the program targets the parents of the aforementioned children. This project will implement SNAP® (Stop Now and Plan) interventions in the following three high needs Toronto neighbourhoods: Regent Park, East York, and Riverdale.
