The Hate Crime Free Millennium Phase II and III Project will continue to develop and establish sustainable community-based resources and expertise to increase community awareness about Hate Crime and the prevention, reporting and support of the victims of Hate Crimes in the Greater Hamilton area. The project also aims to: reduce the destructive impact of hate crime on visible minority communities; increase support for victims of hate crimes within the community through research, implementation, assessment, the dissemination of experiences; the development and launch of educational campaigns aimed at dispelling minority stereotypes; reducing hostility between groups; broadening intercultural understanding and appreciation; and, facilitating forums that allow for open discussions and create working relations between community leaders, educators, law enforcement officials and policymakers. |
