To provide background information on the arrest of Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi and his son Mostafa Eldidi following reports of their intent to carry out an ISIL-inspired attack in Toronto.

Father/Son Investigation
- In early July 2024, the RCMP received information about GTA resident Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi’s intent to carry out a terrorist attack on behalf of the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
- An investigation was immediately initiated, including surveillance activities, with the aim of safeguarding public safety.
- As the Committee is aware, the investigation revealed information that led to the July 28, 2024, arrest of Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi and his son, Mostafa Eldidi. The RCMP laid terrorism charges against both Eldidis, including conspiracy to commit murder on behalf of ISIL. Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi has also been charged with an ISIL-related aggravated assault that allegedly occurred abroad in 2015.
