Summary

This three part series looks at the personal impact of chronic pain and what can be done to alleviate it. As many as 9 million Canadians live with some form of chronic pain. It can last for months, or years, robbing them of their ability to work and to fully participate in life. In Part I, a doctor discusses what chronic pain is, and who suffers the most from pain. Part 2 contains an interview with a woman living with chronic pain and with the head of the Chronic Pain Association about the social stigma of pain, and the problems people face in getting proper diagnosis and treatment. Part 3 examines alternative pain therapies, with a naturopath talking about taking a "whole body" approach to pain management.
