Search and Detention of Persons, Baggage, Conveyances and Goods Destined for the United States
All persons, baggage, conveyances and other goods destined for the United States are subject to examination which may lead to a search and/or detention within the preclearance area.
Obstructing a Preclearance Officer
It is an offence under Canadian law to obstruct or resist a preclearance officer, police officer or a Canadian border services officer in the exercise of their duty or any person lawfully acting in aid of such officer.
Offenders may be subject, on conviction, to a fine and/or imprisonment.
False or Deceptive Statements
Persons must always tell the truth when making an oral or written statement to a preclearance officer, police officer or Canadian border services officer with respect to preclearance of a person or goods. It is an offence under Canadian law to knowingly make a false or deceptive statement to a preclearance officer.
Offenders may be subject, on conviction, to a fine.
