Summary
After fleeing wartorn Guatemala, Montreal labourer Sergio Loreto is haunted by a lie told to Immigration Canada in 1993. Threatened with deportation and an end to the life he had painstakingly built in Canada, he turns to a Toronto parish for sanctuary. Safe but imprisoned in his refuge, Loreto anxiously bides his time as members of his adopted congregation and human rights activists rally to his cause.
