Summary
Avoiding the use of adult experts, this award-winning film introduces several teens and how they deal with stress. Sarah, a punk rocker, grew up in foster care. Jarrel is an active teen (cheerleader and cadet) called "faggot" - until he fights back. Kira, pigeon-holed as a bad kid, discovers she has dyslexia and nobody knew it. Spoken word artist Kyra Shaughnessy, 16, provides running commentary. The teenagers tell their stories in XS Stress: Teens Take Control - an essential guide to staying afloat while navigating the choppy waters of adolescence. It's a time when youth undergo big changes and assume new responsibilities, juggling school, family and friends. Throw in work, dating, exams, racist remarks and extra-curricular activities - and it's no wonder teens get knocked off balance.
