Brief Description
Network aims to assist income support recipients in Newfoundland and Labrador find employment opportunities through job and life skills development, training on navigating barriers to employment, and access to various employment-related resources.
Goals
The main goal of the Network program is to:
- Support rural participants who are job ready in accessing possible opportunities, upskilling and prepare for re/entry into the labor force.
Clientele
Clientele includes people aged 18 years or older and of all genders who are unemployed and receiving social assistance. That is, an individual must be currently receiving income support to qualify for the program. Participants may have had criminal justice involvement or are at risk of involvement or face other barriers to employment. Priority is given to referrals for individuals living outside the St. John’s metro region. An intake assessment is completed to ensure that the program fits the participants goals prior to the start of programming.
Core Components
To prepare and assist rural job seekers to attach to work force. Network covers essential pre-employment skills such as digital literacy, time management, job search skills, self-presentation, teamwork, disclosing past offenses effectively, life skill training, maintaining employment, career exploration and many other job-related topics.
