Summary

This research project was commissioned by the Law Commission of Canada and the Nathanson Centre of Organized Crime and Corruption. The primary goal of the research project was to collect empirical information on the informal banking or hawala systems operating in a specific region in Canada (the Greater Toronto Area or GTA). Participants from three different immigrant communities were interviewed for the study, and were of Afghani, Pakistani or Indian origin.
