Intel Security Update

Purpose

The purpose of this advisory is to bring attention to a recently published security update by Intel.

Assessment

Intel has released a security update to address vulnerabilities in Intel-based platforms with microprocessors utilizing speculative execution and indirect branch prediction which may allow unauthorized disclosure of information to a user with local user access via a side-channel analysis.

Suggested action

CCIRC recommends that system administrators test and deploy the vendor-released updates to affected applications accordingly.
