WordPress TimThumb Critical Security Update

The purpose of this advisory is to bring attention to Critical Security Update for WordPress TimThumb.


TimThumb (WordPress Plugin) has released an update to patch a Code Execution Exploit which, if left unpatched, could allow an attacker to execute commands on a website remotely and therefore create, remove and modify any files on the hosting webserver.

Affected versions:
TimThumb 2.8.13 and earlier versions.

Suggested action

CCIRC recommends that owner/operators test and deploy the vendor released update or workaround to affected platforms accordingly.
