Protection against high-risk offenders

Almost all offenders return to live in the greater community once they have served their full sentence. The end of the sentence is known as the Warrant Expiry Date. Neither Correctional Service Canada nor the Parole Board of Canada has the legal authority to lengthen or shorten a court sentence.
