Since 1985, a number of studies and reviews have been undertaken to examine the crash and its aftermath, in addition to the RCMP investigations, the conviction of Inderjit Singh Reyat, and the trial of Ripudaman Singh Malik and Ajaib Singh Bagri.

  The 1991-1992 SIRC Annual Report contains a chapter summarizing the key findings and conclusions of the 1991-1992 SIRC review of CSIS activities in regard to the destruction of Air India Flight 182.

  Following Security Intelligence Review Committee's (SIRC) 1987 annual report, the Solicitor General announced the formation of an independent advisory team to address two specific issues raised in the report. The first issue was whether CSIS was recruiting personnel with the proper mix of skills, education and experience to meet the intelligence needs of the Government. The second issue concerned CSIS operational policies related to 'targeting', and the balance between the needs of the state versus the rights of the individual. The report examined these two issues and presented recommendations.

• Report on Security Arrangements Affecting Airports and Airlines in Canada (PDF 117KB)
  In September 1985, the Interdepartmental Committee on Security and Intelligence, headed by the Intelligence and Security Co-ordinator of the Privy Council Office, Blair Seaborn, conducted a Review of Airline and Airport Security. In the report, the Committee dealt with a variety of issues having to do with air security, including the role of intelligence, security arrangements and the management of terrorist incidents.

• Indian Government Report of the Court Investigating the accident of Air India Boeing 747 Aircraft VT-EFO on 23^rd June 1985 (PDF 10MB)
  In February 1986, Indian Supreme Court Judge Kirpal presented an Inquiry report. The bulk of the findings and recommendations of the Inquiry deal with airline safety procedures, such as aircraft design, baggage handling protocols and safety equipment. Building on an extensive investigation conducted by H.S. Khola (Khola Report) immediately after the tragedy, Judge Kirpal concluded that a bomb originating in Canada brought down the Air India flight.

  On January 22, 1986, the Canadian Aviation Safety Board submitted a report on its investigation to identify potential safety deficiencies, whether causal or not, and of appropriate corrective measures that may be recommended to the regulatory and enforcement authorities for implementation. The bulk of its findings build on the Seaborn report and pertained to safety measures in Vancouver, Toronto and Mirabel as well as a forensic analysis of recovered wreckage and expert discussion of potential causes for the tragedy.
