Critical infrastructure protection

Critical infrastructure refers to the processes, systems, facilities, technologies, networks, assets and services which are essential to the health, safety, security, or economic well-being of Canadians and the effective functioning of government. Public Safety Canada exercises national leadership by collaborating with other federal departments and agencies, other governments, and critical infrastructure owners and operators to enhance the resiliency of critical infrastructure against all hazards, including natural, intentional and accidental hazards.

The Working Towards a National Strategy and Action Plan for Critical Infrastructure document sets out a collaborative national approach to enhancing the resiliency of Canada's critical infrastructure that will result in reduced risks and vulnerabilities, and swift and effective response to disruptions when they occur.

The Action Plan is the blueprint for how the Strategy will be implemented to enhance the resiliency of Canada's critical infrastructure.
