Project Description - Direct Intervention
The Northern and Aboriginal Crime Prevention Fund (NACPF) supports the development, adaptation and implementation of crime prevention projects in Aboriginal communities, both on and off reserve and in the North. Its goal is to assist communities to respond to known risk and protective factors, support capacity building and the implementation of culturally sensitive crime prevention practices.

Question 1: Project
In a few sentences describe the main idea of your project and what you intend to do.
- What is the overall project purpose?
- What do you plan to do?
- Why did you choose this approach?
Question 2: Crime Issue
What is the crime-related problem you are responding to with your proposed project?
- How do you know that your proposed project will help minimize or address the problem?
- What factors that may lead individuals to engage in crime are being addressed by your proposed project?
- Have you identified which elements in the community could help respond to crime issues (i.e., strong cultural identity, active Elder’s participation, existing community-based activities, etc.)
Question 3: Target Group
Who is your project designed to help? Describe the target group(s) and include:
- the number of participants directly affected by the project, their age and gender,
- how the participants will be selected, and
- information on why these groups are important to reach.
Question 4: Activities
Describe the project activities. Include:
- what activities will take place,
- where and when they will take place,
- who will be responsible for the various activities.
Explain why you have chosen those activities and how you know they are appropriate for the given audience(s).
Question 5: Results/ Outcomes
Describe the results you expect to see from your project, how you will know you have achieved your results and how the project will impact on the larger community.
Question 6: Partners
You will need to develop partnerships to carry out your project. Explain:
- how you know you have community support for your project
- how you will involve other partners or community members in the project
- what role the partners will play.
N.B: It is important that you give as much information as possible as this will enable program officials to determine the eligibility of your project. If your project is reviewed favourably, a program officer will assist you in completing the documentation required to complete your application (detailed budget, workplan etc).
