Crime Prevention Action Fund (CPAF)
Direct Intervention Project Description

The Crime Prevention Action Fund (CPAF) supports model and promising programs which address known risk factors and protective factors to reduce offending among at-risk children and youth, and high risk offenders in communities and innovative programs to explore new interventions with at-risk populations.

Please see the CPAF Application Guide to assist you in responding to the following questions

Question 1: Crime Issue

Describe the existing or emerging crime issue in your community that will be addressed through this project and include evidence that supports the existence of the issue as well as the need to address it (e.g.: crime statistics, findings from community needs assessments).

Question 2: Target Group

Describe the characteristics of the target group who are at risk of committing the crime you identified in Question 1. Provide as much information as possible on the people you will work with including age group, gender, offending history, socio-demographic characteristics, number of participants you will reach. Explain how you will select the participants and engage them in the project and identify whether the project is gender-specific and/or whether you will adopt a gendered approach.

Question 3: Risk Factors

Identify the key risk factors (up to a maximum of 5) that the project aims to reduce in the target group. Ensure that the risk factors are linked to the crime issue(s) you have identified. (See appendix A for risk and protective factors).

Question 4: The Intervention/Project

Describe the intervention giving as much detail as possible on your project.  Include: what intervention/activities will take place, who will deliver/receive the intervention/activities, where they will take place (school, community, etc.) and, when they will take place (how many sessions, how long in duration)?

Provide evidence to show that the selected intervention can be effective in reducing the risk factors you identified in Question 3.

Question 5: Concrete Results /Outcomes

The long term goal of the project is to reduce offending related to the crime issue described. In the course of the project what are the results/outcomes you expect to see in the short and intermediate term that will lead to the desired long term goal.

Question 6: Partners

Identify existing and potential partners; explain what their role will be and how you will involve them in the project. Be clear about which partners are in place and which will be developed as part of the project?
