Public Safety Minister Vic Toews announces funding to protect communities targeted by hate crime in Edmonton

The following eight organizations are receiving support from Public Safety Canada’s Security Infrastructure Pilot (SIP) Program:

Arabian Muslim Association: The Arabian Muslim Association is a not-for-profit religious organization providing a place of worship and social services to meet the needs of the Muslim community. The funding amount is $69,008.25.

St. Mary & St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church: The St. Mary and St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church is a place of worship that supports the religious, social and educational needs of the congregation in Edmonton area. The funding amount is $65,319.75.

Gurdwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha: The Gurdwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha is a place of worship serving the religious, social and educational needs of the Sikh community in the Edmonton area. The funding amount is $38,254.50.

Edmonton Islamic Academy: The Edmonton Islamic Academy is an educational institution that provides education in both Arabic language and Islamic studies to over 700 students from kindergarten to Grade 9. The funding amount is $30,095.00.

Jamaica Association of Northern Alberta: The Jamaica Association of Northern Alberta is a community centre offering a variety of resources and social programs to address the needs of the Jamaican community in the Edmonton area. The funding amount is $17,594.00.

Beth Israel Synagogue of Edmonton: The Beth Israel Synagogue of Edmonton is a place of worship that promotes the practice of Orthodox Judaism in Edmonton through daily services and special religious events. The funding amount is $17,844.00.

Beth Shalom Synagogue: The Beth Shalom Synagogue is a place of worship that provides spiritual, religious and community services to the Edmonton Jewish community. The funding amount is $4,711.40.

Chabad of Edmonton: The Chabad of Edmonton is a place of worship that provides services to meet the material and spiritual needs of the Edmonton Jewish community. The funding amount is $22,837.50.
