Statement from Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan on the death of CSC employee Natasha Cournoyer

October 8, 2009 — The Honourable Peter Van Loan, Minister of Public Safety, made the following statement today in response to the tragic death of a Correctional Service of Canada employee.

“I wish to extend my sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of Natasha Cournoyer, an employee of the Correctional Service of Canada’s Quebec regional office who had been missing since Thursday, October 1.

Ms. Cournoyer was a 37-year old internal communications officer who joined the CSC in May of 2009.

Ms. Cournoyer will be remembered for her enthusiasm and energy, as well as her commitment to her role in communications with the CSC.”
