Alleged sex offender removed from Canada
July 22, 2008 — The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, made the following statement today regarding the successful removal of an alleged sex offender from Alberta, Canada.
“The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has confirmed that Matthew Clinton Bynum has been removed from the country. Mr. Bynum is wanted in the state of Colorado on charges involving sexual assault on children and child luring. I commend the professionalism and dedication of the CBSA officers who executed this removal.
The Government of Canada is committed to ensuring that our country will not be a safe haven for fugitives from justice. On this, our tolerance level is zero.
This action is consistent with our resolve to protect our families and communities though a quick and efficient removals process. The ability to remove people is vital to protecting the safety and security of Canadians, maintaining the integrity of the immigration program and ensuring fairness for those who come to this country lawfully.”
