Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day delivers a statement following the death of an RCMP Officer

November 6, 2007 — The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, issued the following statement on the death of Constable Douglas Scott of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). 

"I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family of Constable Doug Scott who died yesterday while responding to a call in the community of Kimmirut, Nunavut. Our hearts and prayers also go out to Constable Scott's colleagues in V Division and his fellow RCMP Officers across the land.

Canadians everywhere will be saddened by the death of this brave officer.

This second tragedy in a month reminds us all of the courage and dedication that RCMP officers show every day. Constable Scott made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of his country. For that we will be eternally grateful."
