Manitoba announces disaster financial assistance program for severe spring and summer flooding
On July 20, the Government of Manitoba announced that up to $15 million will be set aside for a disaster financial assistance program (DFA) for areas affected by the major storms that caused significant damage to the province in spring/summer 2010. As well, the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization is working in partnership with Indian and Northern Affairs Canada to deliver assistance to affected First Nations.

CFIA issues Health Hazard Alert for certain deli meats due to possible Listeria: Update
To update on Public Safety Canada Daily Infrastructure Report DIR10-139, on July 21, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) expanded their Health Hazard Alert warning the public not to consume certain ready-to-eat deli meats made by Dats Déli Européan because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The public warning was expanded to include additional products, best before codes and distribution for the affected products. These products are known to have been distributed in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia and may have been distributed nationally.

Funding for impacts of climate change
On July 20, the University of Regina and the governments of Canada, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta announced $6.6 million in funding for a series of projects that will help Canadians in the Prairie provinces deal with the impacts of climate change. The three-year Prairies Regional Adaptation Collaborative program is aimed at helping decision-makers in the Prairie provinces target local climate change issues such as reducing risks from drought and floods and managing changes to forest and grassland ecosystems.

SANS ISC lowers Infocon level back down to green
To update on Public Safety Canada Daily Infrastructure Report DIR10-138, on July 20, SANS Internet Storm Center (ISC) lowered their Infocon level from yellow to green. The increase was to raise awareness of the LNK vulnerability, which was fulfilled.

The ISC indicates that the intent of the Infocon is to reflect changes in malicious traffic and the possibility of disrupted connectivity. The Infocon is intended to apply to the condition of the Internet infrastructure.
