Correctional Service Canada
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), is an agency within the portfolio of the Department of Public Safety. CSC is headed by the Commissioner, who reports to the Minister of Public Safety.
CSC is responsible for administering sentences involving a term of two years or more, as imposed by the court. CSC prepares eligible inmates for safe release into society and supervises offenders on conditional release and Long-Term Supervision Orders (LTSOs). CSC does not have the legal authority to lessen or extend sentences imposed by the court.
