The following project is receiving support from the National Crime Prevention Strategy's Crime Prevention Action Fund:
Alternative suspension-Développement national, the YMCAs of Québec, Montréal. Funding of $2,065,315.72 has been granted to the national YMCA headquarters to administer and evaluate the national Alternative Suspension – Développement national project which will be deployed at YMCA locations across Canada.
This project is intended to successfully re-integrate suspended and/or temporarily expelled students back into the classroom and to address other behavioural difficulties such as drug abuse, having delinquent peers or poor parental supervision that place these youth at risk of delinquency.
These locations will receive the following amounts over five years:
- YMCA of Chilliwack, $691,000
- YMCA of Greater Edmonton, $691,000
- YMCA of Greater Regina, $691,000
- YMCA of Greater Winnipeg, $691,000
- YMCA of Greater Moncton, $691,000
- YMCA of Greater Halifax-Dartmouth, $691,000
- YMCA of Northeast Avalon (St. John's), $691,000
The total amount of funding for this national project is $6,902,315.72 over five years.
