Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety

Candice Bergen has extensive experience in both the political and business communities.

She first worked in the financial planning industry, and later ran her own successful consulting firm.  In 2004, Candice was the Manitoba Campaign Manager for Stephen Harper's leadership bid for the Conservative Party of Canada.  She has acted as an advisor to several Members of Parliament, and served as Chief Organizer for the Conservative Party of Canada in Manitoba.

First elected to the House of Commons in 2008 to represent Portage-Lisgar, Candice was re-elected in 2011 and appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety in May of the same year.

In 2011, Candice chaired the Supreme Court Selection Panel. She has also sat on the Steering Committee and Inquiry Panel of the Canadian Parliamentary Coalition to Combat Anti-Semitism, in addition to her membership on the Advisory Panel on the Funding and Oversight of Officers of Parliament.

Before being elected, Candice did extensive volunteer work with various youth groups, and has worked with at-risk youth and adults in correctional facilities.
